December

A Poem by Saria Lon

The faeries dance like snowflakes in December,
gently gliding through the winter frost -
finally not having to remember
all the lovely treasures they have lost.

August made a promise to the pixies,
that love would shine like crystals in the sky -
or sunlight peaking through the shady oak trees
inviting magic creatures to come by.

Now the birds on snowy fences sing
of brighter flowers 'long some clearer paths -
and meadows flush with butterflies of spring
that bask upon the dewdrop faerie baths.

The white trees stand and wait so very still,
for their apples to grow red and true -
while snow mounds hide the rainbows on the hill,
teardrops paint it all in shades of blue.

Have you listened to "Dance of the Wild Faeries" by Wendy Rule?

"Those who seek us surely find us
See the trail we leave behind us
Some bewildered, some enlightened
Some are brave, some are frightened
Are we kind or are we vicious?
Nectar poison or delicious?
That, my sweet, you will discover
Fairy foe, or fairy lover"

The tone of your poem reminds me of those lyrics written above. It's kind of like those faeries only exist when someone believes in them... Enchanting write!

this is beautifully descriptive and allegorical.

the rainbows of life often get hidden by the blizzards of pain...and teardrops do paint a landscape...but sometimes the shades of blue do change to a more peaceful hue...
