The Sun and the Moon

The Sun and the Moon

A Poem by Scorpion Flametail
"

A poem of love and longing.

"
The Sun shines high in warmth and glory
Illuminating all of earth's good story
The moon shrouded in darkness, a beacon of light
With only the stars to help in her fight
A life of endless night, the moon was content
To try to bring hope to the wothered and bent
Until the time daylight caught the moon's eye
She was taken by it, long for the sun
She took off and her journey begun
She chased the day while the sun smiled and the clouds cried
But could never catch up, no matter how hard she tried
Her food friend, darkness, aided as well
But the moon was forever trapped in her he'll
The night shall forever follow the day
No person, nor force of nature could stand in the way
But the moon and the sun can never be
For the sun is not chained and the moon is not free

Author's Note

Scorpion Flametail
Yeah, I'm edgy. Even mushy lovey-dovey stuff is painful when I write about it.

I enjoyed the read and the help in layout suggested by Phill Oz O'Fee is sound. Makes your poem easier on the eye.

Reminds me of Greek mythology; the story of Helios (god of the sun) and his sister Selene (goddess of the moon). Liked the poetic flow and imagery created, but spotted two typo errors: 1. Stanza 6 – should it be ‘withered’ and 2. Stanza 13 – should it be ‘hell’? And, hope you don’t mind me making a suggestion to add strength to the format, perhaps consider spacing the stanzas as follows;

The Sun shines high in warmth and glory
Illuminating all of earth's good story

The moon shrouded in darkness, a beacon of light
With only the stars to help in her fight

A life of endless night, the moon was content
To try to bring hope to the withered and bent

Until the time daylight caught the moon's eye
She was taken by it, long for the sun

She took off and her journey begun
She chased the day while the sun smiled and the clouds cried

But could never catch up, no matter how hard she tried
Her food friend, darkness, aided as well

But the moon was forever trapped in her hell
The night shall forever follow the day

Neither person, nor force of nature could stand in the way
But the moon and the sun can never be

For the sun is not chained
And the moon is not free

Only a thought, hope it helps … bless … :-)
