I was Born to DreamA Poem by Sebastian2014
I once believed in the beauty of dreams
The way one could close their eyes And be in a different world Far away from any war, jealousy, and greed. Dreams were supposed to be a wonderful thing Before succumbing the perversions of society Everyone should maintain the norm Unquestionable loyalty, unwavering unity, and undenounced devotion. Daydreams were a waste of time and potential Impractical, fantastical fairy tales They would make you hate yourself Not everyone can be a Mozart, Da Vinci, or Edison. So I watched my dreams shatter into a million pieces And like stars, Shoot across the night sky And I wished on them again and again. I was born to dream To live a life outside the lines of the one I was dealt I needed the weight of the air around me to be sweet Like honey dripping from the tongue of the wind. The spirit inside me yearns for freedom Wherever it may be found And to satisfy my soul, I must dream. Forever and always imagining a better world A place beyond here Because dreams let us be anyone
And I belong to everything. © 2013 Sebastian2014 |
