A Story of Fools

A Story of Fools

A Poem by Kathryn

Two fools walk a mirror path.

It is narrow and unforgiving.

A single step wrong will spell their doom.

Right or left, up or down, true or false.

The answer is unknown.

The first fool waits.

For what he waits, he is unsure.

He longs for happiness untold.

He reaches for his goal,

but with every step he takes,

it is still outside his grasp.

The fruits of paradise taunt and torment him.

He knows his place, just not how to get there.

Peace and happiness elude him.

The second fool regrets.

She regrets the past and choices made.

She is blinded by her guilt.

Regret for a thousand bad choices,

blinds her to her salvation.

Like the Pheonix, she will be reborn from the ashes,

only if she learns to forgive and accept forgiveness.

The story of two fools unfolds.

They stand strong and proud,

yet they stand alone.

No matter your reason,

a fool........

is still a fool.
