Demise.

Demise.

A Poem by Kate

Demise

The sword is hanging,

Overhead,

And when it falls,

We shall all be dead.

It is not a matter of if,

But when.

Our demise,

Is imminent.

So we shall wait,

As the blade sways,

Back and forth,

Teasing.

And then,

At the very last moment,

As the world awaits with bated breath,

For just a second,

It stalls,

A collective sigh of relief is breathed.

And then,

It falls.

Wow! You have such a talent for creating such gripping pieces that are emotionally charged. This is just...excellent.

The intensity throughout is breathtaking. The tone and cadence are perfect. The images and voice are clear... this piece is so well done. I actually breathed a sigh of relief and felt the sword drop at the end. The last two lines are so powerful, I believe because you did such a great job building the intensity up until that point.
