Anguished

Anguished

A Poem by Merle Van Dee

Colors induced,
   Making lies reduce
To nothing but ants
     Marching lazily
Around a banquet hall
   Or pebbles on the side
Of four-lane highways.
          Eyes become swirling pools
Of lamplight desires
   And Acrylic Wonderlands.
I find peace in this world
     Of my greatest demons
And saving graces.
          Sold in the Alleys,
Corners downtown.
Paid for with the anguished cries
Of a tormented soul.
