New Day's Resolution

New Day's Resolution

A Poem by SleeplessVolcano
"

"All in a day's work"

"

Over breakfast, I start preaching -

No more “I cannot”

No more “I will not”

No more “This is not happening to me”

Over lunch, darkness reaching inside -

Okay, sometimes “I cannot”

Okay, sometimes, “I will not”

Okay, “this is happening to me”.

Over dinner, the white flag hoisted,

“I didn’t”
“I wouldn’t”

“It happened”.

Lost the battle, but the war is still on.

Blood on my hands, but the war can be won.

Tonight I will recharge my soul, double time,

In the absence of reason, at least I'll make life rhyme.

You have put perfectly into words the real life fights that happen within everyone. Even the ones that do not fight depression have to deal with similar situations. I can totally relate. May God give you strength.
