Breaking That Promise

Breaking That Promise

A Poem by Marlena

you’ve got words on your skin

they say

you’ve got words on your skin

because you are alone

you can be told otherwise

you can hear words that are

supposed to make you feel better

like you’re one with an army

but you are not

because at the end of the day

when you are alone

you are alone

and at the end of the day

when you are in too much pain

to form any semblance of real thought

you break through and you do

whatever you’ve been begged not to

because music isn’t f*****g helping

and writing and typing is just pressing buttons

at the moment

it does nothing

to free what you’re feeling

and there is only one thing left

only one thing left

and you’re too much of a coward

because you promised

you promised.

But you’ll do it anyway

In the end

You did it anyway.

This really hit home with me. Another Outstanding piece of work, Averia.

I think this was a good poem. I really really liked this one. Well I loved it actually. I think I have broken promises sometimes...I feel bad for doing them now. Well thanks for sharing. :)
