Generation Y

Generation Y

A Poem by Stephanie K.
"

A poem about today's society and the possibilities of what if's.

"

What do we stand for when everything we believe in is crumbling down,

all the things that once gave us hope now only come with a frown

When equality and individuality come knocking at the door

rather than welcome them with open arms, we simply just ignore

How can we be the change in the world, when we are afraid to be different

what is the point in understanding when there is no need to be persistent

We tell ourselves that this generation is better, faster and stronger,

but if this is what it looks like, I don’t think I can stand it any longer

Once we focus our lenses, uncover our eyes and ears,

We will start to realize the world is drowning in its tears

It is time to alter our opinions and transform society

Let us love one another and appreciate variety

We will bring about a new beginning before we reach the end

Who knows, maybe we will surprise ourselves and just might make a friend

Awesomely awesome! This poem would fit perfectly into many scenarios(high school, war). The rhyming and personification you used are perfect in every aspect! i really wish the rating scale went passed 100, because i want to give this poem a 300!
