An Empire of Lies

Being the perfect Walter Mitty, it took me years to know how much time I've wasted in the make-believe...

I have taken a long time

To understand

Life was not poetry

It was harsh

I should say "harshest"

I can't make it rhyme

In my hand

With all my worries

Of forcing rush

With luck at rest

I heard the bells

They rang like fools

Like those of paradise

A bittersweet smell

It pierced, it ruled

An empire of lies...

I believe this to be your best poem I have had the pleasure to read yet. So much said with only three verses, splendid is the word that comes to my mind. Time has away of allowing us to view the true, big picture as your now open eyes can see, even an empire of lies!

I don't know. Life can be good for good people. Can't allow the lies to blind us. We must find our peace in this world somewhere. A lot of things are going wrong. A wise person look for a smile and laughter to allow life to be their way. Not the control of the empires of liars. A powerful poem. You made me think.
