Smoke and Roses

When moonlight is tinted with teardrops

and teardrops fill goblets meant for wine

bathe in the salt..drink of the malt

order a double of life's moonshine

paint the salt on the rim, forget about him

get drunk on the rocks and add lime~

When long stem red roses burn to ashes

and smoke lingers within the thorns

inhale the fragrance, the remembrance

velvet roses will again be reborn

in the vase of love...the fate of life's glove

a teardrop in the smoke may linger on.

Beautiful poem, and an interesting picture that illustrates the smoke you speak of. Very well worded, and I honestly had to read it a few times (3) to actually get it. Lovely write about forgetting, but in a way, not forgetting love, and how no matter how hard we try to erase it, its always a part of us. Much enjoyed. :)
