A Chapter by TKBickel

Now they could see it was a male. Not quite as tall as Sam, he wore black and his shoulder length hair matched the dark night. No wonder she couldn’t totally see him. He blended in with the night’s cover. The spook seemed Greek to her and that raised more questions. This wasn’t the average New York vamp.

Sam glanced down the alley. “Sammie, make it quick.”

The spook leered down at her and smiled, showing all the pointy teeth it could mustard. “Hello Sammie…or is it…Samantha.” An ancient accent rode in the baritone voice.

Bonnie rose slightly in his gut. “I will be asking the questions here! Why are you hunting in this territory?”

A teasing surprise played in his eyes. “I wasn’t aware off restrictions on this continent…Tell me are you this heartless b***h named Samantha that they speak of so fondly here?” The creepy smile continued while his hungry eyes, pooling red blood, ate her up.

Oh yes he’s going to find out how much of a heartless b***h I am in a few minutes. “In my eyes you are restricted from the whole world…If you all would enjoy cows instead of people it might be different.” What the hell am I doing? This is not Meet the Press. “If you are visiting, you should have paid your respects to the New York lair. You would have been told the rules for this city and lived, or in your case, exist another day.”

The dark vamp’s right hand twitched, catching a drop of blood that dripped from her pink painted finger tip. The flinching action buried Bonnie deeper into him. The smell of burning rotten flesh invaded her nose as the knives cooked him from the inside out. She was rather impressed how this vamp was taking his mutilation. This had to be one of the top five strongest vamps she has ran across.

“You do have the most beautiful glowing green eyes I have ever seen.” The vamp filled his lung with her fragrance, “and you smell sooo good.” Slowly raising his hand, the tip of his tongue slithered out to lick the drop of blood. He savored her smell and taste. “Mmm…you are exquisite…What are you?”

For a brief second her mind wondered who she really was then snapped back pissed. Damn it! He had put doubt in her mind for just a second and that’s all it takes to die. “I am death now-”

He boomed back with humor riding in his voice. “What a coincidence so am I! Let me have this lanky geek and come with me. You are my kind of woman!”

What the hell! I’ve become a magnet for losers! Sam growled and twisted his knife just a little burning more fresh flesh. “Sam, wait!” Samantha moved in closer to the foreign spook flashing a deviant smile. A little pain finally flickered in his face. She whispered in a rough passionate voice. “Let me tell you a secret. That strooong, taaall, handsome man right there.” Playfully her head tipped side to side. “Makes my heart beat hard…and fast. He makes the blood in my veins run hot…practically boil.”

Being so strongly connected, Sam couldn’t pick out if it was himself or her that became so turn on. Odds were high it was both of them. She needed to stop before his jeans became to tight again. “Sammie baby, you’re not helping the situation.”

She meant to jerk the vamp’s chain, wear him down, but managed to agitate all of them. “Thank you. I got a little…off track.” Sweetness dripped from her voice. “You have a tendency of doing that to me baby.” With a pucker, she sent a kiss through the air to him. Back to business, she eased slightly backed from the vamp leering at her like he wanted to penetrate her and not just with his teeth.

“You are every bit of your reputation.”

“How do you know of my reputation but do not know the New York treaty? The New York Master should have told you.”

“You seem to be out of touch with what is going on in your city. There was a transfer of power sometime ago, from what I understand, and the new master threw out your petty treaties.”

Samantha voiced her thoughts. “Wait a minute…a transfer of power can only happen if…the Master was killed….The Master was killed by his own people?” She needed to think about this more thoroughly.

“I guess you could say it was a coo. How about you remove these lovely knives and let’s call this a miscommunication…I will leave your man alone,” he chuckled, “for now.”

A Vampire coo, that’s a first. She was finished with playtime and Sam squirmed like he couldn’t take much more. She recognized that impatient look. Now was the time to let this vamp sign its death sentence or another’s. “I will let you walk away with your distorted life…if you answer one more question.”

The vamp knew this was the do or die moment. Tension filled the air, “Ask.”

“You have no attachments here…Tell me…Where is the lair?”

This Vampire lived a long and bloody time on this world but his end approached. His shoulders rose back and head tilt as it was an honor to die at the hands of his slayer. “You know I can’t tell you,” a beaten and weary smile shown on his pained face. “We are still all brothers.”

That’s what I figured. As much as she wanted to continue the painful infliction session, playing around with the unpredictable ones was highly dangerous. She prepared for the final blow.

The vamp sounded regal. “Would you please honor one request?”

Now a vamp wants a favor. What’s the world coming to? “Ask.”

“Remember my name…Dhaiti. It might be useful in the future…or haunt you in the end.”

“Done.” In quick fluent movements, Samantha retracted Bonnie and flipped it along her forearm. One slash through the neck nearly decapitated the vamp completely. More blood doused the lost white of her shirt. Sam yanked Clyde and stepped back, letting the body fall to the ground.

She watched the corpse fall and begin the deterioration to fleshy mushy goo.

“Sammie…are you ok?”

Her eyes moved from the vamps mushy remains, quickly liquefying, to a slow crawl up Sam. Many questions spin through her mind. It would have made her dizzy, if she would let it, but one thing dominate and anchored her mind right now…Sam. The rest fell away.

Stepping over the messy remains, her predator glowing gaze flickered from under her long dark lashes. Standing a breaths distance without touching, she tipped her head side to side as she studied him predator to pray. “Do you realize how many times you ask me that question?”

Sam hovered over, absorbing the dark danger radiating from her. He attempted to figure out what game she was up to. “Do you realize how many unusual situations you get yourself into?”

She slipped an innocent smile on. “You know, it seems to be your life that gets threatened more often than mine.”

He countered played with a devious grin. “Because everyone…Everything wants to run off with you. They know immediately what a strong, sexy, smart and ruthless women you are…They want you.” His breathing quickened. He proceeded with a growled whisper. “But not as bad as I want you.”

Some how she managed to get closer with out touching him. “Are you sure you want this freak of nature? Look at me.” There wasn’t much white left to her top. “I’m a mess.”

He couldn’t take much more of the physical separation. “I want every bit of you…No wait a minute…The more I think about it,” Sam had just enough control left to play her cat and mouse game. He switched gears and became serious. “I don’t want you.”

Nicely done. The team the two Sams make is incredible. Really adds to the character and story development.

Another great chapter, I love the teamwork. Sam and Samantha make a great team. This chapter allows their romance to grow. I think enjoy them better when they are hunting then when they shopping or going to parties. That is just my opinion.
