Can I try to save you?

Can I try to save you?

A Poem by Katie Flores
"

I want so much to hold you. To keep you save with me. To have you in another place will never do.

"
I see the dead look in your eyes,
It screams, "I am not okay."
I see you, dying to fly,
But I know you've clipped your wings.

They fell to the ground,
Broken and tattered,
Their weight has lifted,
But you know they are the only thing that mattered.

You're stuck here,
Grounded.
The realization gives you fear,
But you can't cower and hide.

Have you given up on life,
And left your only promise behind?
Can I try to keep you safe from strife?
I know I can keep you, have you warm in my embrace.

I cannot say that you're weak,
You're dying to be set free.
And I'm dying to save you,
But who's going to save me?

Can I keep you safe from pain?
I want so much to try.
I can try to keep you sane,
Safe here, from any blame.

After reading your other work, this gets even more amazing to read...and the line, "But who's going to save me?" I was thinking of before it reached my eyes, meaning it made sense and was inevitable!
Many people hurt, but the courageous that can look then "see" their pain and its source, another thing entirely.
Courageous writer she is!
