Transparent Mirror

Transparent Mirror

A Poem by L.M. Weeks

Looking at a face that is not my own... isolation's not a choice...
Trying to find a familiar face in that lonesome mirror. That transparent mirror.
Peering into darkness, there is no other side.
My own image, a blank canvas, waiting to be painted...
Trying to find a familiar face in that lonesome mirror.
That transparent mirror.

I hear a voice calling out to me from the other side... of that transparent mirror.

No matter how I tried I have always failed... victory was a myth...
Trying to find a familiar face in that lonesome mirror. That transparent mirror.
Looking for acceptance I feel no comfort here.
My heart sinking into darkness, drowning in my soul...
Trying to find a familiar face in that lonesome mirror.
That transparent mirror.

I hear a voice calling out to me from the other side... of that transparent mirror.

Now I finally see, I was never gone... I was just misplaced...
I was trying to find a familiar face in that lonesome mirror. That transparent mirror.
Blinded by the light, I see the other side.
My own image a full masterpiece, painted by His hand...
Finding a silhouette, in the shape of hope, in that lonesome mirror.
That transparent mirror...
