The Wrong Way

The Wrong Way

A Story by Jen
"

A near death encounter with God.

"

Deafening roar, then darkness.
I open my eyes, light pinpricks distant. “Hello?”
No response.
Standing in darkness, I watch the light swell. It stops before it surrounds me. Taking a step back, I look around. “Hello?”
“My child,” the deep voice is all around me.
“What’s going on?”
“You can’t come with me.” It is full of sorrow.
Suddenly, images from my life appear and I cringe. “Please,” crying I fall to my knees. “Forgive me.”
Flames leap high around me, searing my skin. Screaming, I collapse inward and everything goes black.
In pain, I open my eyes.
                “She’s back!”
