Unexpected Sorrow

Unexpected Sorrow

A Poem by Aislinn
"

Prompt: Coffins shouldn't come that small.

"

Today I saw the saddest thing.

I thought that when church bells ring,

Angels would rise and sing,

Of happiness and joy.

The sinner turned back to right.

The lovers joined and then take flight.

Never a mother's humble plight,

When she has lost her baby boy.

The coffin was way too small.

I watched the mother fall,

Too weak from grief to even crawl.

Clinging to his favorite toy.
