Ash and Blood

Ash and Blood

A Poem by Dewella~Vintella

She sits upon her window,
as the rain begins to fall;
and thinks about a time, when darkness wasn't all.
She sits alone and waits,
for him to come along.
Though alone she has been,
alone for far too long.

She sits upon her window,
as her tears begin to fall;
and times of love and sunshine,
Fades, no longer able to recall.
And the taste of ash and blood,
now burns across her lips.
Broken memories and bitter-sweet,
of a long ago last kiss.

He sits outside her window,
though shadowed and unseen;
His world now full of darkness, twisted and unfeeling.
He watches as she waits,
shes been alone for far too long.
wishing he could join her,
and knowing he is wrong.

He sits outside her window,
sees the tears upon her face;
His brilliant ray of sunshine,
her life he has disgraced.
He wishes to embrace her,
to kiss her lips of red.
But now soaked in ash and blood,
her love for him is dead.

I really like this poem a lot... So much I had to re read it... From my point of view it sounds to me like a dark side of Romeo and Juliet... But I have learned often in life that it is that memory of the last kiss that can actually help us make it through the day... You can only love someone for so long if the love is not being returned... So eventually you do have to move on, no matter how bad it hurts. No matter how bad your heart wants you to keep trying.. But as anyone in life has learned you can't make someone love you... No matter what you do... But then again in this one it sounds like he did love her but was too scared to pursue her..

"He sits outside her window,
though shadowed and unseen;"

That tells me right there that he had love for her, but was to unsure of himself... And by the time he was ready to tell her how he felt it was too late for him... She had moved on and had nothing left for him... Either way it was a really great poem and I can't wait to read more of your work...

There is a lot of deepened and empty emotion in this poem. The thing I was proud of in this poem was that the guy was aware of what he had done to the girl, how he had made her hurt and that it wasn't okay to go back. That it was best for them to be apart. Perhpas he knew it was best to leave things unsaid, to not go back and beg her forgiveness because he knew it would either be too easy or not good enough. Maybe he didn't want to repeat the past and risk hurting her again. He possibly thought it was best for her to forget about him because he knew she deserved better than how he was able to give her...so heartbreaking!
