Light

Light

A Poem by Julius Whimbird
"

Someone you know sits in the dark. Do you take notice? Do you lend them your hand? Do you wish to show them the light?

"

You sit in the dark
Depressed and broken
Lonely and hurt
I draw near to you
You gaze up at me
Eyes telling me to leave
I disregard the look
I continue my advancement
You begin to stand
You struggle to find your footing
I lend you my hand
You swat it away
“I don’t need your pity!” you cry
I extend my hand again to you
As before…
You swat it away
There we stay in deadlock
Gazes never averting
Finally… I speak
“Let me help you.”
For the last time, I give you my hand
And you give in
You place yours in mine
I hold it tight
I tell you this…
“Let there be light.”

Author's Note

Julius Whimbird
I wrote this for an assignment and for some reason, the melody of "Lilium" from Elfen Lied inspired it.

P.S. I've never actually watched Elfen Lied; I've only seen clips and heard the song.
