What I Celebrate

Some people ask me what I celebrate on Christmas Day
Now I don't celebrate like the average guy or gal
To be honest It's kinda weird but I celebrate every day
What I do is go to my favorite store or shopping mall
I take every broken dollar and put it into a make a wish jar
Or sometimes it makes its way into a bell wringers hands
The poor kids in the hood could benefit from a school not to far
A warm hat or even some gloves would make warm hands

All you have to do is get up off your asses
Even as this world falls apart
You can put it back together without any hassles
Take a stand and show the world you have a heart

 

 

 

The riches that you claim to need
That necklace ring or gold plated watch
Aren't as important as the mouths you need to feed
Young kids in Africa watch
As their loved ones die of hunger
Brings a tear drop to my eye
All you do is sit back and wonder
Why this poor kid all day has to cry

I finally figured out what I'll do this holiday season
Do what I do and donate for a cure
I know how important and perfect the reason
All who do the same have a heart that's all so pure
Some day I know my wish will come true
Out of the blood and carnage a better world will emerge
One with no trouble making folks or bruises
Children smiling singing and dancin' with a bunch of courage

I love the movie "Pay It Forward" and look how that ended. I think some people don't, even, try; they figure that you can't make a change. None of us, here, can be suffering, that much, or we would not have computers and computer service and, probably, each one of us knows someone whom is out of work and, truly, suffering; how about we all put an anonymous twenty, ten, or five in an envelope (as much as we can spare) and start our part there. When you're poor, it's amazing how much you can do with a very small amount of cash!

This is the perfect way to celebrate Christmas. It is what Christmas is about, giving to others and who best to give to then those who need it. Giving all the time would make the world a much better place. Your poem is very inspiring. I really like its message and it can very easily be a song. Great job.
