Paradox of Joyful Tribulation

Paradox of Joyful Tribulation

A Poem by Aricka Lynne Phelps Wheeler
"

Discussion on the irony of Christian's duty to be joyful when feeling most forsaken by God.

"
Since birth there was defeat
Orphaned infant babygirl
Constant tears down her cheeks.
Almost a decade had passed her by,
a happy childhood of love and an
abundance of joy, no tears in her eyes.
Then, a court ruling made with haste
returned the girl to her mother
In the most sinister place.
Evil dark spirits are they;
perversion defiles her innocence,
horrific! Profane!
Where was God when she cried?
Abandoned by Him too--
Without works her faith had died.
Disgust and hatred grew
for him and his demons &
her mother always knew.
Why God why?! She yearns to know.
4 years of of wikedness
She breaks and her terror exposed.
15 years later drugs let her forget
Suicide is tempting &
Her new spouse is a pimp.
Her sin is how she survives
Faith diminishes away
And she resents her forsaken life.
Just before giving completely up
She laments to the Lord
"Father please carry me up".
Prayers unheard, a true blessing is born,
Almighty Father created a
Mother with the birth of her son.
Her love for him fierce and true!
She vowed to protect him.
Give more love than she ever knew.
"That's it!" She privately declared.
In a rush she packed her belongings
and with with her son she had fled.
She believed her son was God's gift
Empowering her motherhood
And restoring her reason to live.
10 years down the longest road,
A daughter was born
and Mother's faith had grown.
God's promise to never forsake
is difficult to always believe,
Even for those abundant with faith.
Now a mom with a graduate degree.
She worships with all she's got
Thankful for His grace and mercy!
Truth is, she returned to her hell
to offer forgiveness,
and prayed for their salvation as well.
The tribulation caused tremendous hurt but never forsaking her,
God used her to break a family curse.
InJesus's name, I rebuke thee
Satan stand down
From your bondage I'm free!
