"Bubble Dream"

"Bubble Dream"

A Poem by Zoe Anne

"Bubble Dream"

I have a dream,
That's more delicious than whipped-cream.
It's so fabulous,
And so very glamorous.
I want The Fame,
To bring everyone to shame.
I want The Money,
So I can spend it all on you, honey.
I want The Fashion,
'Cause it's my passion.
I want The Technology,
So everyone can hear me.
I want The Revolution,
Because I deserve my salvation.
I want The Future,
Because it is my only cure.

Right out the gate, I feel as though I'm reading lyrics to a Lady Gaga song. That works...for a song, but for a poem? Not so much. The rhyme-by-the-numbers encourages the reader to skim to the end and nothing remains. To make matters worse, the rhyme falls apart in the final four lines.
