Does that matter to you?

Does that matter to you?

A Poem by Basmakyah Borz

What is it that you see,
staring at the ceiling like you are
And why do you ignore the sound of
me breathing

Because I am here beside you
I am alive

Does that matter to you?

My eyelashes brush your cheek;
blinks of sorrow caught
between the space of what I wish for
and what you feel

Soon you will fall asleep
(you lied about insomnia)
and I will stay awake mapping
the veins in your arms by
2am streetlight

And weeping silently in a
language foreign to you that
I love what will
never want to touch me
