reach the skies

reach the skies

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

aired armpits

"

reach the skies

days away from silence
months where words crammed my soul
year on year, a life time, nonsense curses
oh praise this eternity of nothing
i find footsteps leading nowhere
trees turning their whispers into coos of welcome
why not turn to trees for all the answers
the bark of their sound never bites
rings of years show the wisdom of stillness
as their arms reach the skies.

My grandparents lived in the middle of the Mark Twain National Forest. That is where i first fell in love with the woods. You can spend the day in communion without a word spoken. It is therapeutic and energizing. just like your poem.

my you are on such a roll tonight...this poem is such wonderful allegory...we get to that age of stillness, with rings of wisdom, and we reach to the sky in more ways than one...literally and figuratively...
