BLACK LANDSCAPES

BLACK LANDSCAPES

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Dark figures, different shapes
The mark of man, black landscapes.
Ever changing on city grounds
Walking, running, stalking grounds;
A cast of shadows: small, large and thin.
Reflects man's pace as work life begins.

Very cool idea. I like how you combined work life ... that's truly what it feels like!

I like this one, how you crafted the images of darkness, blackness and linked them to something common like one's shadow. Also mentioning work life as a sort of dull or bleak view on life reflected in the overall darkness of the piece, in the shadows, maybe as the shadow side of existence.

That's great.
I gather the sun will soon be over the horizon too...
A brilliant write my friend - descriptive and wonderful tone and flow to it.
Favorite bit:
"A cast of shadows: small, large and thin.
Reflects man's pace as work life begins."

Glad you enjoyed M Babu
Seems like everything that is entailed in any landscape resembles man
with his rough form
the strength of each bold line
the earth tones

i love this artistic piece

The beginning of the working day, this seems to be.
The work begins in the dark and shadows of pre dawn. Men of all sizes and shapes preparing to leave their mark on the landscape of the earth.

Reading this on a Sunday makes me realise that tomorrow is a working day. AGAIN.

An interesting write, Andrew.

Thank you Doodley
I've read this one about 4 times so far. And every time I think of something else it could mean, or a hidden word I've missed. I really like it.

I understand this poem. Seem like man want to destroy all that is beautiful. Man leave a reflection of emptiness and shadow of greed. I like this poem. Made me think this early morning.

Very perceptive and descriptive. I loved that second line- the mark of man, black landscapes. It can be interpreted in sooo many ways. Awesome!!
