Who has taken the lead?

Who has taken the lead?

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Everyone had a lead.
The cops had a lead,
the dog had a lead,
the wife had a lead
while I was led
so I’d never be lead
.... astray.

But as I got older
more strings were attached,
where I became a puppet instead,
my ties were stretched,
while the knots became tighter.
I was now played
rather than lead.
