My Greatest Desire

My Greatest Desire

A Poem by Amber Bergeron

My Greatest Desire

To be carefree
And soar above the clouds.
To love and be loved.
To profess it out loud.

To never grow old
Or have to pay bills.
To never get sick
Or addicted to pills.

To fulfill in excess
My wildest dreams.
To become the kind of friend
To whom most friends would lean.

To imagine a world
Full of passion and grace.
To live a full life
To win life's great race.

To hold a small monkey
In the palm of my hand.
To be a success
With our Dixieland band.

To travel the world
And be part of nature.
To have every friend
In one big picture.

To swim in the ocean
And not be afraid.
To use medical training
To come to one's aid.

To own a small house
And a giant one too.
To be honest as I can
To always be true.

To try new things
Without shying away.
To be the same person
When my hair turns gray.

To live my life to the fullest
No matter what interferes
And promise myself
To hold back the tears.

Nothing can change
Who I am today.
Let us just hope
I don’t change much along the way.
