Pillow

Pillow

A Poem by So Ensnared Truth
"

A study into surrogacy

"

Pillow

I sleep with a pillow

Not just beneath my head, but alongside me too

Where a loved one might reside

When I hold it, in my dreams it’s you

A surrogate if you will

When I roll over in my bed I can feel it at my back

Where a loved one might reside

But when I roll back over, the pillow is cold

Motionless

Lifeless

Dead

Like our love

This poem excellently relates its emotions, the relentless cycle: Sought-after Comfort and its twin sister Empty Reality. Though the use of the word 'surrogate' does offer hope; in my mind, it involves a certain sense of temporariness.

(Happy late New Years, by the way.)
