Drowning in fears

Drowning in fears

A Poem by Beth Wilcox

I can still remember the excruciating pain

as blood trickled down my forearm.

I felt my face begin to drain

and my heart was beating so rapid in alarm.

Cut after cut I sat there in tears

letting myself fall into my worst fears.

I looked around and all I saw was mirrors

the images of myself that were so near.

My heart broken and torn

I hated the day I was born.

Screaming so loud but no one heard

all of this was so absurd.

I want to love myself, is that too much to ask?
