Between dreams...

Between dreams...

A Poem by Sophie Wind

Between dreams and waking screams

there’s a time of subtle seams:

once it’s there and then it’s gone

shifting sand of  - all and none.

For each of us, one dream stays

as memento of parting ways

All the things we ever want

success, fame and maybe love

rise and fall and change it all

some of us then forsake it

most of us just forget it.

Next night they go back to sleep

hoping, praying not to dream -

not to wake to feel that scream.

For someone who speaks English as a second language, you handle it nicely in this piece. I only saw one thing in the last stanza- forgets is plural, and most of us requires a singular. You rhymed well, though the font changes seem to interrupt the flow. Perhaps this was intentional? I like it. It has a certain quality to it.

You did much better than I'd ever do with a second language. I applaud you! You might want to change "succes" to "success" at the beginning of line 8. Sweet dreams tonight! :-) Sharon
