My Old Friend

Something I wrote for a very dear friend of mine who asked me how I felt about her, even though we hadn't talked in awhile.

and when i need a friend,
to be there the most...
you were always there,
you were always close.

all the times shared between,
times we'd laugh and times we'd scream.
i know you're there for me...
and i know you'll always be.
though the times are rough,
know that you're on my mind.
as a true friend to me,
i'll think of you all the time.
and i was there for you,
i loved and cared for you,
you did the same in return...
however over time,
i couldn't really call you mine,
and i can really feel the burn.

cause when i need a friend,
to be there the most...
you were always there,
you were always close.

lately things just ain't the same
but one thing that'll never change,
i'm always there for you...
and i will see you through,
anything you come to in life,
cause i'll be by your side.
and it's kinda hard to show,
the kinda love we've known...
because the way it's been
isn't like the way it was back then.
but if the time ever comes,
and you'll need someone,
don't forget that i'll be there,
and i will always care...

and its all because when i need a friend,
to be there the most...
you are always there
and you are always close.
i'll never forget the tears we've shared,
or the love we've shown.
i will always love you friend...
i just thought you should know.
