Virgin

Virgin

A Poem by Not Afraid of Bruises
"

rough cut...hope you like it spoken word/poetry

"

 It hit and holy s**t

Here I am can’t feel my knees and

Jeez,

Who the hell gave you the right

to look at me like that?

Never was one to give into the heat

Never really missed a beat because some guy

Slapped it on so rough and jagged,

But damn, it feels good.

It feels good to fall into you

When everything feels like it’s falling though and

You keep me together when the pieces crack,

Demanding attention

That I just don’t have.

Always independent I seem to be playing the part

Of a Disney story but

I don’t fit into one of their princesses and

I start to question how I could fall so quick

Into Neveranding,

And that distances us because I am too

Young to trust or take a chance on something that seems

So much like a convenient romance.

Because I can’t, I won’t be that girl

Who falls to pieces over some guy she hoped would

Play the hero –

But more than anything, I want to fall head

First and down into all the lore that

I ignore, a tide beneath the surface that

Stirs at the sound of you coming closer,

Stepping deep into my blue…

Author's Note

Not Afraid of Bruises
be brutal - didn't really pay attention to the rhyme, so I hope it doesn't pop out too much.

I love it! The completely idependant woman meets love/desire for the first time. You absolutely never forget. My favorite part was the last line, "Stepping deep into my blue " ~ it's so surreal and open-ended! Beautiful work, Casey!
