Take a Knife

Take a Knife

A Poem by Megan Chase
"

This short poem is about self-harm.

"
She picked up the knife
Everything's wrong nothing's right
Take a deep breath and let the blade lead the way
Will I live another day
Blood pouring from her wrist
Staining the sink
A stinging pain she can't think
Why is a question we all ask ourselves one time or another
Will pills take the pain away
The ringing noise in her ears
I don't want to live another day
So keep cutting deeper with tears flowing down her face
Look in the mirror
A bigger disgrace
Cut 2 or 3 more times
Cover it up with your sleeve
Unlock the bathroom door
And actually breathe

Aye I loved this, because it actually made me feel something while still being amazed by the word-orchestra - this is the kind of poetry I like - one that's not touched by the emotions portayed will still feel the pleasure of the harmony beteween the words (and the other way around)

Also I like the way you handled the introdution and the conclusion - the first three opening lines and the last three ending ones actually feel like doors, of course, as it should, but in this case it feels way more real than anything I've read and/or written

good job~
