My Little Prince

My Little Prince

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A poem about my white chihuahua.

"

My Little Prince

his face is so sweet
as he sits by my feet
on my futon watching
me eat a fig newton

with his snowy white hair
and the glare of his
innocent green eyes

he starts growling at me
and barks for a bite
of the luscious treat
that he thinks is meat
that I hold close to my
lips in my hand

with his navy wool
sherlock holmes
trench coat on
fitted for his six pound body
I can't help but smile
and laugh at him

he may be a dog
but my life spins around his
he's my little prince
that steals my heart
every night

he's all the dog
a girl could ever wish for

I love him so much
my little Piglet

Author's Note

Marie Harrison
He's the love of my life, my little dog. His name is Piglet and he's my little white chihuahua. He has the heart of a warrior. He'd do anything to defend me, which is more than the men in my life have done. He's so sweet. I love him dearly. He' and my other chihuahua are what kept me getting out of bed and working after my break-up. I new that I had to be responsible for their little heartbeats and for food to put into their little mouths. I love myself, but sometimes I believe that they've taught me to love myself. They see great things in me that I never see. Piglet has a lot of character and a fierce nature for a little dog. I always laugh and say that he thinks that he's a pitbull. He had no idea that he weighs about 7 pounds. I love him a lot. He's my little prince.
