these dreams of mine

i am the dreamer. written for a contest, but so much more than that.

these dreams i wish i could change
dreams of hope and dreams of despair.
spell my love or spell my doom
dreaming hearts in spinning rooms.
give me stable ground to tread
while these dreams invade my head
i dream of greatness while stuck in this town
i dream of up when i am down
but when i finally reach my haven
melancholy is all i'm cravin'
for my existence appears to be
an equal dose of love and seethe
but inside counts for more than out
and all i truly have is doubt.

You've truly captured the essence of what it is to be a dreamer. To have many aspirations with your imagination avoiding the bitter reality but still coming to terms with real life and its facts.

The rhyming is okay and the language doesn't seem tedious and is easy to understand. This is a great poem and thank you for sharing. Keep the ink flowing :)
