Why is it I cant remember what I forgot?

Why is it I cant remember what I forgot?

A Poem by Christine
"

Something goofy and silly that happened to a friend of mine. I told her that I would post it for her to read. Hope it brings a chuckle to all that read it. :-)

"

A poem for a friend.

My bed is so warm,

Into it I climb.

The comfort seeps into my mind

My eyes drift close

Into slumber I go

Awaiting glorious dreams before me.

Thunder erupts and the sky lights up.

A bolt of something disturbs me,
A thought came racing

Across my minds eye.

I wonder what it could be?

The coffee is made,

Ready for the morning.

The door is locked, bolted, and secure.

What is this thought that plagues my mind.

What is it that I forgot?

The kids are all here

Tucked into their beds

Slumbering as I should be.

The dog is in, the cats are feed.

So what is this thought that seems to bother me.

The faucet is off.

The bathtub’s been drained.

Sleep is knocking at my brain.

I lay my head upon my pillow

Close my eyelids tightly.

The rain is pouring,

By buckets it falls.

My slippers are dry out in the hall.

My keys are safe, my gas tank filled.

Hmmm,

 I wonder…did I pay the electric bill?

No, that’s not it.

Cause if it were.

I would be able to sleep,

Not just toss and turn.

Enough!

  I’ve had it!

I will remember what I forgot in the mornin’.

The noise of the rain,

Hitting the roof.

Kept my slumber far and aloof.

The alarm clock blares and I blink my eyes.

I almost want to sit up and cry.

Sleep eluded me,

Once again last night.

And I am afraid I look very much a fright.

I no longer care. Vanity be damned!

I want to stay here in my bed!

I shake the cobwebs from my head

And roll out of my cocoon instead.

I dress quickly, in a uniform I hate.

I have to hurry or I will be late.

Distracted my thoughts were this day,

The light rain started my day with grey.

I looked at my car, which wasn't too far

I parked it right in front of the door.

Looking down at my feet,

that’s when it hit me,

Oh my God,

I left my car running!

Christine
This did actually happen to a friend of mine. It happened during a very very difficult time in her life. She did actually leave her car running all night. When she got up in the morning, her car not only was out of gas, but the battery was drained too. It's one of her many "blond" moments. LOL ;-)

This is really funny -- despite the fact that it hit a little close to home. The other night I went out to dinner, and after we ate I left the restaurant frantically searching for my keys. When I got back to my car, they were in the ignition with the car still running. Anyhow, I like the way your wrote this, with the tension and humor both apparent. You can tell a story!

lol

Can't say I've ever done this. The worst for me is locking my keys in the car while it was running. Hope she appreciates your capture of that moment for her. :)

I'm not blonde, but some days, my friends have to keep a pretty close eye on me. Gosh, I have good friends. I enjoyed this. I hope it cheered her up.

this was a fun piece, it reminds us all not to be so serious.
i like how it is about something dreadful that happened to your friend, but it is written in a reassuring sort of light. i hope your friend enjoys it.

haha..I loved it. This piece kept me interested throughout trying to guess with them..what could it be? with all the stress and little details in life, we are always forgetting to do something. written well, almost suspenseful but yet light and keeping me humored.

Now i'm wondering, am i forgetting something. lol

LOL.. The uniform I hate? I couldn't agree more. My battery may have been dead and my gas tank below empty, but my slippers were dry and tucked neatly beside me. I find I have no problem dealing with the stressors of life as long as I have a little comfort to look forward to.

I loved the piece and it's so true. I can't believe that I did that and sadly no one will ever let me forget it..lol

btw, blonde's have nothing on me.

This is a cute story with a twist at
the end. The twist often makes the story
and it certainly brightened up this one.

Keep writing !
