A Goddess Amoung Men

A Goddess Amoung Men

A Poem by Dan Simpson
"

Loves embrace.

"

A clock with no hands separates time among place

Distance measured, yet measureless to your grace

A million years a second, a million seconds a day

Time is all but meaningless when you’re away

A heavy heart now stands where excitement once stood

A burden of blessing, if only one would

A smile that would melt a nation

A laugh full of incantation

Such beauty little could compare

To even waver from a glance is more than one could bare

A Goddess among men

A forced existence… then…

You appeared before my eye

More meaningful than every star in the sky

I’d give them all up to see you one more time

Because a moment with you is more sublime

Than the first moon

Or the radiant sunset shimmering, immune

If love could be caught and amass

I wouldn’t, for love is liberated, but alas

Liberated to be left wanting and desired

But love is blind and therefore inspired

For no obstacle, no matter how vast

Is enough to hold my love, which will always outlast
