Our Ten Things

Our smiles, our laughter, our innocent naughts.
Those were our days of guiltless pleasures.
Down the slides, and up the endless stairs.
When multi-colored crayons were precious treasures,
and when looking at you, I saw a friend.

Our differences, our arguments, our restless bickerings.
That was the start of this tension between us.
Stomping away, screaming out loud.
The times we would avoid each others stare,
and when thinking of you, I think of 'hate'.

Our curiosity, our shyness, our escalating heartbeats.
The signs of our weaknesses.
Good mornings, good nights, good byes.
Every little moment that we touched,
and when every second of your life, is part of mine.

And then our last adieu.
Not a 'See you later', not a 'See you tomorrow'.
When walking away felt so hard.
When holding each other was the heart's craving.
and we would manage a smile as a statement of 'growing up'.

Those were the ten things that we shared.
The ten things that I remember whenever a mention of your name is made.
It may seem impossible, but if we ever meet again,
and if our memories still has the will,
Ten words will be my greeting to you,
and a million smiles and tears, I'll give.
"Every second of my life without you, I never lived."

Author's Note

This was my first piece of writing that I found a few days ago. I've been making a few changes to it, because I was still twelve when I wrote it, so grammatical errors and lack of vocabulary still lingered. Feel free to point out errors. And also, what do you understand from this piece of writing?
