The return of writer's block

The return of writer's block

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

The return of writer's block strikes

Hits you where it hurts with paper and pen

Every page has turned to blank again

Reach for a pencil or a pen, no lead, no ink

Etchings turned to scribblings

Tick tock, tick tock, goes the clock on the wall

Up to late, can't sleep, it's the middle of the night

Reality is cold, it's the return of writer's block

Nobody's home inside your head, feels like your dead

Okay, it's okay, it's okay, you'll trudge through it

Full speed ahead, just listen to the waking birds

Reading and Reviewing

'sleepy yawning, yawning, yawning, it's early morning

Back to writing once again

Laptop is staring back at you, just waiting for a response

Okay, fingers to the keyboard tap, tap, tapping

Clock on the wall says tick tock, tick tock, tick tock

Keep on trudging through writer's block

Great writing! I suffer from Writer's Block frequently so I can really relate to this piece. Kudos!

The mirror image of the backside of the coin. I've never seen a poem written like this about writers block. Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!! All smiles on my face when I read this.

I know exactly what this feels like! I've been trying to write a novel for the past year or so, and most of that time has been spent in writer's block, at least on the book. I'm only on chapter 3, and it feels liks I've been writing it forever. I can completely relate!

I liked how you described being up late with the clock ticking. That gave me feelings of being tired, in the dark, and lonely, which is exactly how I feel during writer's block. Excellent job!

I doubt there's a soul on this site that can't relate! :-) Sharon

Ah...the first lines kills it and this is something every writer can feel! It hurts when the passion is there to create but nothing comes out. This was a hot drop and you displayed your soul on this!
