Ember (A burning glow)

Ember (A burning glow)

A Poem by Destiny_Brown

Her breath and fingertips are warm,

But look how her heart is frozen

Like a man climbing Everest

Yet he seeks it and it leaves him broken

He was trusting

And he was kind

He was unwary most of the time

When she burns his soul to ember

The scars are left hidden for the ghost in the mirror

The tears are bitter and melt like burning snow

Her strikes and blows are so powerful

He now believes he’s unworthy

Lightning strikes but he lives through it

It didn’t hurt so that’s noteworthy

They were flightless

And unafraid

When she paints his back with auburn ash

The scars are left hidden for the ghost in the mirror

The tears are bitter and melt like burning snow

She crouched and waited in the dark

He felt her stare like a doe to a lion

Icy and mesmerizing,

He was entranced

So, she grinned knowing he was bleeding

He was trusting

And she was scared

It needed to stop but no one had dared

A burning glow in a dying fire

The scars are left hidden for the ghost in the mirror

The tears are bitter and melt like burning snow
