Spring Snow

A scrap of nursery rhyme that floated into my head this morning, inspired by yesterdays heavy fall of deep, wet snow. It's my husband who has to shovel, though.

Spring Snow

 

Cold bits of lace come floating down,

Stark white against a leaden sky,

Blanket the drive a full foot deep,

And who will shovel?  None butI!

Initial reactions and constructive criticism appreciated. It's meant to be in the style of traditional nursery rhymes, but with a modern theme.

I was fired from job. I have free time now to read and write. I found a group of talented writer. Honest and direct. I will be glad when Spring is here . Grandchildren need to run and play. I haven't decided. I'm in a writing mold. I will decide Tuesday morning. I will send you a message when I decide.

I'm glad you found a writing group you enjoy. I have my cousin, who writes, but then I pretty much just have the people I've met on here. Most of my friends seem to think writing is a bit odd.

Yes, young children need to be outdoors. During the thaw we had last week, our neighborhood was full of kids with skateboards, bikes, and basketballs. The houses are very close together, so I can hear kids in many yards, and up a couple of close side streets. ''

I'm not rushing. Enough savings for one year and two years. I can retire. I'm fine. Not rushing and thank you.

I'm grateful to know that. It's nice to have an opportunity to write as much as you like, then. I do little else, although I recently started a job privately tutoring a young man, using Skype. If it goes well, I'll see whether I can expand that. He's in Saudi Arabia; one of my grad school classmates is friends with his parents.

Thank you, John! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Like you, I love the old vocabulary. It was much more lyrical than modern English, while simultaneously being often more to the point than the direct language of today.

I am right there with you. The pretty lace turns in to back pain while trying to shovel the solid bricks of snow. Love it, and it's so true!

Not nice when you get snowed in and need help but good for the mind body and soul keeps one young and on our toes...when transport gets affected not fu- enjoy the shovelling- there’s a place and time for the snow as well, lovely words and light reading very enjoyable🌹
