I love you

“I love you”
It was such a simple phrase
this is sure to stick for days,
a gentle calling from outside
my paranoid midnight haze.
a matching set of words joined my stuttering admission,
making the emotional submission for
once not reek degradation.

four words and my dreams became
a fantasy land, made bright and grand
by your blessedly painless brand.
before long I’ll try once again to express my joy in a poem or song.

with the greatest proof of your effect on me being a lack of fear that the words will come out wrong.

more than a few cynics would call me a sap which may very well be true,

though i can’t imagine that they would do it in the face of your beautiful “I love you too”
