Love&Drugs

Love&Drugs

A Poem by Erica Ross

I thought I knew
But I never really knew
The thoughts of isolation
The only person in an altered state of mind
And no one can understand
Everyone thinks you're fine
And even though you're high, you know
That things aren't right
To your safe place you want to go
heart racing, feet pacing
but nowhere is where you go
I'm going fast on the inside,
but on the outside I'm moving slow

So feel my heartbeat
and I'll feel yours
look into my eyes
you can see inside my pores

Now look at you
Fretful as can be
I need your help
And even though you feel, you can't see me
I'm crying out for help
But you can't hear my voice
I'm lost for words
But it's not by choice
In my head, I don't know why..
I thought you would understand
But you're just blind
I never thought an advocate
wouldn't understand her similar kind
But silly of me
It's just all in my mind
I don't feel safe
I'm way past closure
And even when you chose to help
I just want this to be over..
