One

One

A Poem by Erica Ross

I could write and write until my fingers begin to bleed
Write about all my wants, write about all my needs
I could spill out my deepest secrets
Reveal my few fears
I could expose my soul through these rows of words
I could cry you every tear
But what then is left of me?
What will be left for me?
Is there anything in return for me?
Or is this just a one sided show?
See what I've realized is that everything always boils down to one
One life, one God, one true love
Every one on a power struggle to be the one above all
And all else just awaits to fall
While in this life all we get is one true friend.
All my life I've lusted for more
Growth, understanding, power
And in love, to mature
I always thought it'd be me and my love
But after you, you, and you
It's just been easier to give up
With that being said,
I could write and write until my fingers begin to bleed
Write about all my wants, write about all my needs
Reveal my few fears
And expose my soul through these rows of words
I would even cry you every tear
But what then is left of me?
