another momentary lapse of reason

another momentary lapse of reason

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

another momentary lapse of reason

into a spin

the star skidded

over my heart

and crashed like a meteor

into yours,

there was an ephemeral glow

then a combustible flame

and later a slight imprint

on the ground of reality

upon which it landed.

Funny how sometimes reality suddenly rises up and slaps one in the face! We live and learn eh!. Nice one Jacob! A very real reality here!

So true.... from the dream/euphoric state we come back to earth to face our reality!
Yes there is no explanation that triggers the love bug but when it does one just crashes and burns or one enjoys the ride. I don’t know why maybe not, but this reminds me of the rocking horse winner story in some unexplainable way but yes it is a comet of love. Really liked this intriguing good write Jacob. Brilliant!

leaving a mark like an imprint of a fossil, something rare that once was and left it's mark for you to know that it touched you once

Alas it seems there is no reasoning with love. While it is there it is all emotion, filled with delight.
When it is gone, it is like` so many pieces of a shattered kaleidoscope. Leaving us wondering if we should pick up all the pieces.

Take care - Dave

Something which seemed so full of promise igniting into something special turned into a damp squib of a firework. That happens sometimes sadly. Roller-coaster emotions.

Ah Jacob! That is what comes from 'wishing Upon a Star'. Indeed the sky can seem to fall when love leaves us without dreams. First class allegory as always.
