The One (A Song)

By Erin L George

(Chorus)

I’ll be the one who got away from you -

mark my words, I swear it’s true.

The one who makes you toss at night,

the one who makes you dread daylight.

I’ll be the one,

yeah, yeah.

I’ll be the one who got away from you -

the one you promised to be true.

The one who set your soul ablaze,

the one who brought you sunny days.

Watch me.

You’ll call and say I made a mistake -

I’ll remind you that you walked away.

You’ll swear you’ve turned your life around -

I’ll smile as I push you down.

That’ll be me,

you’ll see.

(Chorus)

I’ll be the one who got away from you -

Mark my words, I swear it’s true.

The one who makes you toss at night,

The one who makes you dread daylight.

Cause,

I was the one who loved you from the start -

the girl who gave you all her heart.

The one who stayed up with the stars,

wonderin’ if you’d come from Mars.

I was the one who helped you find your way -

the girl who plucked you from dismay.

The one who kissed your lovely face,

dressed for you in honey lace.

(Chorus)

I’ll be the one who got away from you -

mark my words, I swear it’s true.

The one who makes you toss at night,

the one who makes you dread daylight.

I’ll be the one,

Fun, fun!

Yeah,

watch me!

I’ll be the one.
