Fallen Angel

This poem was written for my beautiful wife and my best friend.

Fallen angel sent to Earth
When the heavens crashed down
To meet Hell but got stuck
Here I stand
The guardian to the two
That mean the most to me in the world
But yet it seems no matter what I do
There is nothing I can do to save them.

Fallen angel sent with a mission
To be the one to make sure they are safe
To make sure that they survive
What kind of angel am I
When I cannot protect them
From the evils of nightmares
From the hurtful words of so-called friends
From myself.

Fallen angel sent with nothing more
Than a strong attitude and a good personality
A winning smile will not help me now
A good laugh can only go so far
What happens when my charm finally wears off?
What happens when I fail at what I am meant to do?
When I fail them entirely?

Fallen angel sent from Heaven above and Hell below
The tears cascade down my cheeks as I watch them
As I talk to them without using my voice
Nothing is real yet everything they tell me is my life
For I am their guardian, their secret keeper, their sanity
I do not know why for I am nothing so special
Yet I am told I am too sweet and kind for this world
How can that be when I caused my own damage?
When I ruined my own life?
When I made myself fallen in the first place?

Fallen angel full of grace and charm
There will never be enough blood shed
To save them from the harms of this Goddess forsaken world
I would give my life to make theirs easier
I would give my soul to keep them safe and alive
I would give up everything I hold dear in this life
Just to make sure that they had everything that they could ever need.

Fallen angel never to understand
Why it is me that must be the one they turn to
I do not regret a single moment spent helping them and listening
I would do it forever if either of them asked me to
For I have never had such people in my life that loved me
The way that they do and I would do anything
To free them from the past and guide them toward the future
To make sure that I never lost either of them.

Fallen angel destined to be the one
That somehow, someway changes where they are headed
To be the comforting shoulder that they can cry on
To be the ear that they talk to when they need it most
To hold them when the burden becomes too much to bear
I promise you both that right here and now
By the power of my heart that I once thought to be closed off forever
I will forever be here for you till the day I take my final breath
I will be the angel that guides you to your destiny
I will forever be there for you
Because I will forever love you both
With all my heart and soul.

this is so heart warming and meternal, i personaly think that every parent worth their salt will and can relate to this. what loving caring person would not understand this.
