Two to One

Two to One

A Poem by James Paulin

alone in quick time, incomplete, only I

filling space with empty places for me

narrow eyes failing tears that two may cry

drawn into natures he and she to we

-

plural to dual to one source of sight

rainbows, rocky rut or feast and flowers

entwined by seasons both bitter or light

years run away, melting quick like hours

-

words unneeded as both spirits combine

taste, sorrow and pain impress or impair

complete acceptance more in age decline

fulfilled first promise each kindness declare

-

all in, risks every dear treasure of heart

transferred unto both, gifts we each impart

There are many here who use the word "sonnet", but obviously have no idea what the word means. What a thrill it is to find a writer who is not only familiar with the form, but is a master of it as well. Please send me a friend invite, so that I will not forget to go to your page and read more of you! (I too am enamored of the Olde Forms, and we are an endangered species!)

Oh what a beautiful, romantic sonnet to feast my eyes on today. A classic one if ever there was. Just stunning!! Thank you for joining in my contest Jim and Happy Valentine's Day!
