Pleasant Times

Pleasant Times

A Poem by James Paulin

An August day of temperature quite mild

Alone upon a lake, gently cradled in a boat

Soothed by breezes as a mother kisses a child

Soft white clouds above upon blue sky afloat

Fresh air breathes easily so clean and clear

Warm sun recalls long ago, a tender caress

Aside are laid all worries, regrets and fear

Thoughts turn to those of peace and happiness

Light whistling wind sings a sweet lullaby

Scent of water as of rain showers just gone away

Solitude unbroken until perchance a passerby

In darker moments, these pleasant memories replay

A tranquil moment linking memory, nature and how it frames us. It so vividly captures Augusts touch, warm and inviting in this December.

A peaceful vision. The final line is meaningful, in that we carry around these times of peace to remember in the future. I think each one of us should experience these peacesful moments.

Your words in this poem create a very peaceful scene, I'd want to return to it in dark times too.

Awesome work, I love it! I especially like the ABAB rhyming technique. It not only worked really well but it made it more interesting. The storyline was also really, really good. Ten outta ten!
