TiVo It

TiVo It

A Poem by James Paulin

TiVo It

numbered days expose choice in phase

recall of ways

pictures taken

pasts awakened

impressions made as path is laid

mundane things fade

important choice

record each voice

with love and wrong, life short or long

sound out our song

to be reviewed

not construed

I had just got out of the cable tv industry when this started to come out. It was the beginning of digital cable and the analog started its long phase out.

I liked this piece. I really liked the form of it. I really want to take each stanza and just place them on top so that I may see the uniformity of it all and construe the lines.

This is perhaps the best form I've seen to date. Thanks for the entry.

This was a poem about time, that's what I see, time is the single most pervasive component of our experience and the most fundamental concept in our physical theories. wonderful wording.

Well, James, I just found out how dated I am...I mean, I come from the era of ink pens...and I think there were a couple of real quills around the house...I'd say more, but I have to go out and hook up the horse and buggy, we're going to town...

I enjoy pieces that find the poetry in the mundane. Not that Tivo is mundane. Well, to my kids it is. I find it useful but still "new tech". My elder parents are still mystified by the blinking clock on the vcr. Not that they realize they have a Tivo now! LOL

About
After 38 years of working as an automotive design sculptor, I retired and have been doing a bit of fishing and writing poems. I've gotten better at both and had some recognition. Most of my poems are .. more..
