Blackness of the Eventide

Growing up as a child is not always easy

With every night being scary, especially at midnight

Imagining which ghost may grab you next with no mercy

Fear of the unknown stiffens you tight

At night every cockroach seems a suspect

Any rat around at night must have been sent by the Queen of the Coast

That’s childishness, but what else could you expect?

It was more like living in bondage and awaiting the Devil’s roast

I hate darkness

When it dawns with gross blackness I begin the Lord’s Prayer

Imagine an inspiration induced by sinister darkness

Just to avoid its darkest layer

What do you think about the darkness of sin?

It’s also like living in dire bondage because it’s a toast with your arch enemy

Like a scorpion, sin has an innate toxic sting you may not have seen

Please do not play hide and seek with the Lord or you will end up dreamy

The Devil thrives in the darkness of sin

If he grabs you, he would not want to free you until you are spiritually thin

And then you stand a chance of missing heaven’s glorious scene

While obedience to God’s word still remains the assurance for your victory over sin

Brighten the spot where you are, to shun darkness

Darkness comes with dangerous blackness in opposition to your soul

Aim at God’s gloriously abundant light and greatness

Snatch souls out of this thick darkness of sin, because it is authentic wisdom to win souls.
